Of course this happens when looking at a screen from a close distance for prolonged periods of time, but the effect is much stronger on a computer compared with other devices such as TVs. So how do we reduce eye fatigue? Some people perceive the high speed at which the LED backlight flashes as flicker. Of course, even those who cannot perceive flicker may also be affected by it without realizing it.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"arrow_02\">How does flicker work?<\/h3>\n<p>Dimming (brightness control), is separated into 2 categories: PWM (pulse-width modulation) and DC (direct current).<\/p>\n<div class=\"mb05\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/webcube-general.s3.amazonaws.com\/eizo\/media\/contentassets\/2014\/10\/31\/eyestrain_img_01.jpg\" alt=\"PWM Dimming \/ DC Dimming\" width=\"720\" height=\"266\" \/><\/div>\n<p>LED monitors often use PWM. However, a screen that is too bright is a primary cause of eye fatigue. On the other hand, if a display is too dark it is too difficult to see and also adds to eyestrain. Auto EcoView ensures the screen is never too bright or too dark; it automatically adjusts the screen&#8217;s brightness to the optimum level, alleviating eye fatigue caused by working at the computer for long hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"tab03_content\" class=\"view\">\n<h2 class=\"mt_min\">Blue light causes eye fatigue?<\/h2>\n<p>How blue light influences eye fatigue is an increasingly popular topic. First we will show where blue light falls on the light spectrum.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mb05\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/webcube-general.s3.amazonaws.com\/eizo\/media\/contentassets\/2014\/10\/31\/eyestrain_img_022.jpg\" alt=\"Ultraviolet light - Visible light(Blue light) - Infrared light\" width=\"720\" height=\"121\" \/><\/div>\n<p class=\"mb_max\">Blue light is part of the visible spectrum and has a wavelength that is close to that of ultraviolet light.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mb05\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/webcube-general.s3.amazonaws.com\/eizo\/media\/contentassets\/2014\/10\/31\/eyestrain_img_023.jpg\" alt=\"Ultraviolet light(UVA) - Visible light(Blue light)\" width=\"720\" height=\"121\" \/><\/div>\n<p class=\"mb_max\">99% of the ultraviolet rays that reach the Earth are UVA with a wavelength of 315 &#8211; 400nm. Although blue light is part of the visible spectrum, it still has an influence on eye fatigue. Since its wavelength puts it close to UVA, it is conceivable that it could cause strain on our eyes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<div class=\"bl_image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/webcube-general.s3.amazonaws.com\/eizo\/media\/contentassets\/2014\/10\/31\/eyestrain_img_024.jpg\" alt=\"comparing the relationship between LED and blue light\" width=\"460\" height=\"288\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"bl_caption\">When comparing the relationship between LED and blue light, we have confirmed that LED backlights and CCFL backlights have about the same amount of blue light.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>How to reduce blue light on an LCD monitor<\/h2>\n<p>Knowing that blue light influences eye fatigue, we tested how much we could decrease the amount of blue light by making adjustments to the monitor.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"arrow_02\">Lowering the color temperature<\/h3>\n<p>Lowering the color temperature causes light distribution to shift towards longer wavelengths (more reddish colors).
