IMPORTANT COMPATIBILITY NOTICE:
Apple Macs with an Nividia graphics card or chipset and Mac OS 10.5.6 or higher may
give a “No communications” error in SpectraView Profiler on some early production
(before mid-2007) models of 90 series displays, including the SpectraView 2690 and
SpectraView 2490. Please contact NEC Technical Support directly for assistance.
Mac OS 10.5.6 prevents SpectraView Profiler from being able to communicate with the
display monitor on PPC based Macs. Customers should update to Mac OS 10.5.7 or higher
to avoid this issue.
The 13-inch MacBook, and 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pros with Mini DisplayPort video
outputs released by Apple in October 2008 and January 2009 require Mac OS 10.5.7 in
order to work with SpectraView Profiler using the DisplayPort to SingleLink DVI adapter
from Apple. SpectraView Profiler will not be able to calibrate NEC monitors when using
Mac OS 10.5.6 and earlier on these machines.
The Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter is necessary to provide full
resolution support for the SpectraView Reference 3090 (2560×1600 pixels) on newer
Macs with DisplayPort video outputs. Support for communicating with the display
monitor when using this adapter was added by Apple in Mac OS 10.5.8 and Mac OS 10.6.
However issues with the implementation have meant that the only way of
communicating using the device is to include an option in the SpectraView Profiler
software specifically to provide a workaround for these issues. SpectraView Profiler
v4.1.17 added a checkbox in the preferences to support the Apple Mini DisplayPort to
Dual-Link DVI Adapter on Mac OS 10.5.8 or Mac OS 10.6. Please restart the application
when this checkbox has been enabled!!!

Kit de Calibración por Hardware para el NEC MultiSync P221W

Desde NEC nos llega un kit que nos ofrece la posibilidad de sacarle el máximo partido al NEC P221W, al permitir la calibración por hardware automática del monitor con las ventajas que esto conlleva tanto a nivel de comodidad (el proceso es automático) como de precisión (la calibración por hardware es la opción que permite la máxima precisión). Este kit consta de:
- Visera de protección inteligente para proteger la imagen de la pantalla de los reflejos de luz parásita
- Colorímetro Spyder 3 con sensor de luz ambiental incorporado
- Última versión del potente software SpectraView® Profiler con licencia TAN individual

NEC Serie 90 – Spectraview

Las diferencias entre el NEC MultiSync 2690WUXi² y el SpectraView 2690 Reference, vienen condicionadas en base a que si bien el primer modelo pertenece a la gama profesional de NEC (serie 90) no se trata del la gama de producto específico para profesionales de la colorimetría y artes gráficas, ya que dicho puesto está reservado a la serie SpectraView.
Los modelos Spectraview son unidades escogidas a mano de entre la serie 90, sometidas a un control visual de la superficie de la pantalla realizado mediante un proceso manual en fábrica, y a las cuales se les adjunta un certificado conforme se ajusta a los estrictos niveles de precisión que ofrece dicha serie (http://www.microgamma.com/spectraview/certificado_sv.htm).
Estas unidades (Spectraview) incluyen el software de calibración Spectraview Profiler el cual, junto con un colorímetro compatible como por ejemplo el Eye One Display 2 o el Spyder3, permite realizar una calibración por hardware automática sin intervención del usuario salvo para indicar los parámetros de destino deseados. Tras especificar la configuración deseada, el software se comunica de forma directa con el monitor y el colorímetro y realiza los ajustes necesarios de forma automática, guardando las correcciones en una tabla de equivalencias (LUT) interna en el propio monitor. Este tipo de calibración aporta una comodidad y precisión mayores que una calibración estándar.
La serie 90 estándar a la que pertenece el 2690WUXi comparte lógicamente muchas características con los modelos Spectraview por las razones mencionadas anteriormente, si bien no incluyen software de calibración y no permiten calibración por hardware, por lo que se calibran con el propio software del calibrador que se posea, realizando los ajustes en los controles del monitor (contraste, brillo, valores RGB) de forma manual. El resultado de este tipo de calibración se almacena en la LUT de la tarjeta gráfica, y si bien se obtiene un resultado de una precisión muy alta ésta queda por debajo de la calibración por hardware. Lógicamente la opción ideal para trabajo en fotografía sería la serie SpectraView, aunque si se trabaja bajo un presupuesto ajustado la serie 90 es una alternativa a tener en cuenta con una relación calidad precio sobresaliente.

Nuevas denominaciones Spectraview

Para las nuevas unidades Spectraview 26 y 30, en la denominación se añade la palabra Reference. Esto no significa de que estas pantallas estén iluminadas por led como hacia el 2190 Reference. La denominación hace referencia al Gammut de estos monitores, para el Spectraview 2490 la denominación seguirá igual.
